Mid-December: Christmas Cheer and Gardening Wishes

Hello, and thank you for joining us in the Growing Together blog for mid-December

The festive season is upon us and we hope you're enjoying being outside during this busy time, even if it's in the rain and squelchy mud.

Have you grown vegetables for your Christmas meal this year? Steve will be adding shallots to his stuffing and Claire is planning to dig up her parsnips - here's hoping they're not too difficult to get out of the ground!

Joining them in the latest podcast is Head Gardener Ben Pope with an update of December garden-life in the Working Garden Diary, along with a sprinkling of Christmas cheer.

Also, Nick Rook-Blackstone, owner and Chief Elf at Wylds Christmas Tree Farm, brings Christmas tree advice and news of events taking place throughout the year at this magical place.

It's been wonderful going on our growing journeys with you this year.  Thank you for growing with us.

Wishing you seasons greetings and a happy and healthy new year!

Meeting for the last time this year, Claire and Steve slip and slide in the mud to Steve's plot at the Adhurst Estate Allotment in Hampshire.

Steve gives advice for when to sow seed onions, Claire explains how to take care of autumn-sown sweet peas and they both share their Christmas gardening wishes.

Admiring the structure of the garden this time of year, including the beautiful apple step-overs, Head Gardener Ben Pope discusses pruning for bringing the outdoors in, what's growing in the greenhouses, early ideas for what to sow in January and some Christmas Cheer too.

And Christmas trees aren't just for Christmas for Wylds Farm Owner Nick Rook-Blackstone, who explains why he wanted to own a Christmas Tree Farm, provides advice for Christmas tree care and reveals his favourite Christmas tree variety.
